FIVE FOUR

This past Friday, Temoc and I had a meeting over at the Movember offices in Venice, on Abbot Kinney. What a great place to have an office, right on the popular Abbot Kinney street. For those of you who may not know what Movember is, it is a charity originally founded in Australia, that benefits the Prostate Cancer Foundation, and LIVESTRONG, the Lance Armstrong Foundation, both raising awareness and research for prostate cancer, the #1 cancer affecting men.

My high school friend, Don Killian, works over at Movember and we have been recently talking about having Five Four involved with the campaign this year. You’ll see some exciting things from Movember and Five Four this upcoming Fall 2011.

 Five Four partnered with Movember this year on a button down shirt that will be donating $10/shirt ($50 msrp) to the Movember charity.  First and foremost, Five Four believes in the Movember cause and its movement towards raising awareness for mens health, specifically prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men.  The belief in mens health awareness being one of the most important things in a man’s life led to the partnership between Movember and Five Four.

During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men’s faces, in the US and around the world. With their Mo’s, these men raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men.

On Movember 1st, guys register at Movember.com with a clean-shaven face. For the rest of the month, these selfless and generous men, known as Mo Bros, groom, trim and wax their way into the annals of fine moustachery. Supported by the women in their lives, Mo Sistas, Movember Mo Bros raise funds by seeking out sponsorship for their Mo-growing efforts.

Mo Bros effectively become walking, talking billboards for the 30 days of November. Through their actions and words they raise awareness by prompting private and public conversation around the often ignored issue of men’s health.

At the end of the month, Mo Bros and Mo Sistas celebrate their gallantry and valor by either throwing their own Movember party or attending one of the infamous Gala Partés held around the world by Movember, for Movember.
