GQ: The November Cover
Eminem, Lil Wayne, Keith Richards and 43 More Gods of MusicOn our cover this month: an incredible photo portfolio by GQ contributor Mark Seliger that we’re calling “The Survivors.” The ones who keep going, evolve, even flourish, long enough for us to still be listening to them ten, twenty, even fifty years later. Forty-six artists about whom you’ll never say, “I only like their early work.” The legends—or legends-in-the-making—who refuse to die, quit, back down or shut up. Watch this exclusive video to see who (along with our three cover subjects) made the list. And visit GQ.com every day for the next month for an exclusive Q+A with all of them. First up: Will Welch’s interview with Eminem.

“When you hear the term “street artists,” it usually conjures up some negative connotations, having long gotten a bad rep as hooligans and vandals. But some street artists, like Cyrcle, are actually not only quite organized but have garnered themselves showings in art galleries and legitimate recognition in the art community… all without sacrificing that rebellious spirit.
It’s no great surprise to learn that Cyrcle’s latest endeavor involves another visionary artist of his day, Charlie Chaplin. Teaming up with clothier Five Four, the artists have designed a piece entitled “Chaplin We Never Die” and debuted it last night (August 25) in Culver City as part of their We Never Die! art showcase. The highly imaginative piece features a pleated portrait of Chaplin’s face which, depending on what angle you’re looking at it from, displays either the actor’s familiar mustachioed mug or a (also mustachioed) skull. • Another week, another unannounced party visit? Will Smith surprised organizers at an exhibit put on by Five Four Clothing and Cyrcle, an L.A.-based art group. “His visit was so unexpected,” a source says. “He just walked around eating ice cream sandwiches and taking pictures.” The actor, who arrived with a female friend, was in a “joking mood,” the source says, and even teased one of the designers about their work. He also tried to buy one of the pieces, but it had already been sold, so Smith made plans to visit Cyrcle’s studios and commission a work. -People
