"When you hear the term “street artists,” it usually conjures up some negative connotations, having long gotten a bad rep as hooligans and vandals. But some street artists, like Cyrcle, are actually not only quite organized but have garnered themselves showings in art galleries and legitimate recognition in the art community… all without sacrificing that rebellious spirit.
It’s no great surprise to learn that Cyrcle’s latest endeavor involves another visionary artist of his day, Charlie Chaplin. Teaming up with clothier Five Four, the artists have designed a piece entitled “Chaplin We Never Die” and debuted it last night (August 25) in Culver City as part of their We Never Die! art showcase. The highly imaginative piece features a pleated portrait of Chaplin’s face which, depending on what angle you’re looking at it from, displays either the actor’s familiar mustachioed mug or a (also mustachioed) skull.
